Jack was born in Lansing, Michigan in 1930 to Church Lee and Ruth B. (Berry) Sutton. Jack served in the Army, 2nd Infantry in Korea, was a Lansing Firefighter, and worked for Commercial Blueprint in Lansing for more than 30 years. When he returned home from Korea, he met and married Phyllis (Cook) in Lansing on April 13, 1957. Together they were lifelong members of South Baptist Church. Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed flower gardening around their family home in DeWitt, Michigan. During the summer, he could often be seen cruising the town in his favorite VW convertible bug.
Jack is survived by his wife Phyllis of 66 years, sons Jeff (Cathy) and Steve (Cheryl), sister Diane (Case), grandchildren Colter, Amanda, and Sam. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Patsy (Holmes).
The family would like to thank the staff at the Ridge at Lansing and Hospice of Lansing for their compassion and care of Jack these last few months.
A private celebration of life will be held in the future.
