Dennis Wyman Schwartz, age 72, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 8th, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 29, 1948 in Almont, Michigan to Ralph and Geraldine (Kegley) Schwartz. He grew up in Capac, Michigan and graduated from Capac High School in 1966.
Dennis graduated from Michigan State University in 1972 with a bachelor of arts in marketing degree. He was employed by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority for 32 years before retiring in 2002. Dennis met the love of his life, Linda, at work and they were married on August 23, 1975.
Dennis loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed being anywhere outdoors. He especially enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Rainy Lake. He was an avid MSU Spartans fan and loved watching their sporting events. Dennis dearly loved his granddaughters and spent as much time as he could with them. He had a zest for life and went out of his way to help anyone in need. He was a jokester and loved making people laugh. Dennis especially enjoyed volunteering at Sparrow Hospice House and delivering Meals on Wheels.
Dennis loved the Lord and was a member of South Church in Lansing, Michigan. He especially enjoyed ushering and welcoming people to the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Schwartz. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Linda; daughters, Lindsay Schwartz and Lisa (Brian) Woodward; Granddaughters Kinsley and Kennedy Woodward; sister, Patricia Robbins and brother, Gerald (Ruth) Schwartz; several nieces and nephews, and his beloved bulldog, Axl.
The family would like to thank the staff at First Light Home Care and Heart to Heart Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life for Dennis will be held Friday March 19, 2021 at South Church, 5250 Cornerstone Dr, Lansing MI, 48917 starting at 11 am with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. The family also will receive guests on Thursday March 18, 2021 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, Dewitt MI, 48820 from 2 pm to 4 pm.
