Audrey Thayer Scott

Audrey Scott, age 95, passed away on January 6, 2024, at her home in Grand Ledge, Michigan. She was born on April 27, 1928, in Boyne City, Michigan. Audrey attended Boyne City High School and later attended Central Michigan University, where she met her husband, Arthur Jack Scott, Sr. Audrey lived for many years in Ionia and Portland.

Audrey was a beloved mother to her sons, Arthur Jack Scott, Jr. (Pattie) and Charles Jacob Scott (Elaine). She was a joyful grandmother to Andrew Jacob Scott. Audrey also had a close bond with her brothers, Charles Thayer and Douglas "Don" Thayer, and her sister, Lois Langtry. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Jack Scott, Sr., and her parents, Howard and Leona Thayer. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, William Thayer, Robert Thayer, Irvin Thayer, and Richard Thayer, and her sisters, Charlotte "Ann" White, Carrie Jane Allen, Phyllis Elaine Hardy, and Patricia May Snedeker.

Audrey found solace and community at the Portland United Methodist Church, where she worshipped. She found joy in feeding the birds and wildlife near her home, spending time with her family, and cheering on her favorite NASCAR drivers with her grandson.

An internment ceremony in Boyne City is planned for the spring to honor Audrey's life. In memory of Audrey, contributions can be made to the Portland Community Food Bank at 310 East Bridge Street, Portland, MI 48875.
