Thinking of Betsy and all the  many years of dance and yoga we did together. Miss her great sense of humor, youthful energy, and enthusiasm.  Sending loving kindness and gratitude to all those who also think of her and miss her.

Betsy and I were best friends in our elementary school years in DeWitt, New York.  I have fond memories of baking cookies and brownies in the kitchen’s of each other’s homes; sleepovers on the weekends, and skiing during the long Central New York winters.  Our mothers were also good friends, and they have both passed to the other side as well.   Although Betsy and I have not been in regular touch since high school, I remember our good times together as young girls with fondness and gratitude and shall always love Betsy as my first best friend.

A year later and it’s still hard to believe Betsy is not here with us.  Betsy was a gem. I think of her fondly. She definitely made a positive impact on my life.  Judy Galloway

We couldn’t have asked for better next-door neighbors. Betsy and Doug were nice, kind, caring…always. When I went into labor with my second child, my husband knocked on their door in the middle of the night and handed them our toddler. He thought I’d asked, and I hadn’t. So, even though they weren’t expecting it, Betsy didn’t hesitate to take our daughter and watch her all day while we were at the hospital. We love this whole family. So sorry for your loss. Betsy is a truly good soul.

I was lucky enough to meet and become friends with Betsy when we were in a musical production together at Williams College. We fell out of touch after graduation, but happily I saw her at our 25th reunion, and was not the least bit surprised to find she was much as I remembered her: sweet and kind with a spark of humor that made her lots of fun to be with. I was so sorry to hear that she is gone, much too soon. Doug, I think that Betsy knew from the very beginning that you would be the love of her life. I'm so glad she had the happiness of spending her life with you.

I cannot be as eloquent as others who've left their messages of comfort and remembrance thus far.  But I think that's appropriate since Betsy was always the most eloquent in the room anyway.

I first met Betsy in Barb Spietz’ yoga class. I was drawn to her warmth, positive energy and her intelligence. We formed a Yoga Book group and enjoyed each others’ company over lunch and book talk.  Betsy loved her family and communicated that in myriad ways. Betsy was a force, quiet and soft spoken, but direct and honest. I am having a hard time thinking she is not here on Earth with us. We need more people like her today.  To Doug and the family, I send you love and prayers. What an exceptional wife and mother she was.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

My first memory of Betsy was when we were in an adult Ballet class in Libertyville. We formed a small group of dance loving friends that led to the sharing and promotion of dance in Lake County. 
Years later Betsy and I reconnected when she joined my yoga class in Lake Forest where we continued and strengthened our friendship. That’s what Betsy did, strengthened, supported, and encouraged lasting friendships.
She was open and curious, strong in character, generous, compassionate and loved freely.
She brought joy to our class with her sense oh humor and playful spirit. Her contributions were many and will live on in her family and inspire all of us who were honored to know and love her. 


What a fortunate day it was for me when I met Betsy and her daughters at Victory Park when we were new in town with our little girls.   Betsy was so welcoming and our families  became instant friends.   Then when we moved from Waukegan, Betsy was the catalyst for staying connected by meeting regularly in Chicago for theater and dinner for over 20 years!  She was a dear friend who will always have a special place in my heart.  Sending love and strength to Doug, Mary, Sarah and Rachel and all her family.

I'll always remember the times we had and the letters we exchanged during our youth. My pen pal! My cousin, my friend. You will be missed, Betsy the Younger!

Betsy was simply the best of the best!  Her kind heart, her thoughtful manner, her sly sense of humor, her intelligence and her humility truly put her in a class by herself.  How lucky we are to have known her, and how much she will be missed by those left behind - most especially Doug, their girls, and the rest of her family.  Her passing has left a hole in a whole lot of hearts.  I can only be grateful that our paths crossed those decades ago.  

Oh Betsy, my dear sweet funny friend. I’m devastated that you have left this world. I will miss your smile your humor and your caring and loving friendship.  But I guess God needed you with Him .  The world has lost a special person and you will be so missed. 
My prayers are with Doug and Sarah Rachel  Mary and  those sweet grandkids whom you so loved. May God fill them with sweet memories of you to fill their sadness. I will never forget you. Love you my dear friend. Mary Anne Minich
