Des Plaines Visitation for Catherine E. Butow (nee Gerich), 80, will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St. (Northwest Highway/Route 14 at Rand Road), Des Plaines, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 27. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Born June 6, 1930, in Evanston, Ill., she died May 22, 2011, in Des Plaines. Catherine was a homemaker. She was the wife of Robert W. Butow, the late Ole M. Reiken and the late Glenn E. "Bud" Johnson; mother of Michael (Kim) Reiken, Christine M. (David) O'Dwyer, John R. (Gayle) Reiken, Kevin L. (Laurie) Reiken, and the late Keith W. Reiken; stepmother of Linda Patton, Karen (Robert) Loess and Robert (Amy) Butow Jr.; sister of John Gerich, Barbara (the late Marvin) Smith, and the late Paul (Patti) Gerich; grandmother of 15; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.
