Anthony (Tony) J. Franchi, 86, of Park Ridge, IL passed away on January 29, 2018. Born April 6, 1931 in Worcester, MA. Tony spent his childhood being called “Sonny” by his family. While serving in the US Army, Tony was stationed in Japan and trained in foodservice instruction. When the Korean War broke out, he continued his service. Upon returning to civilian life he earned degrees from the Culinary Institute of America, University of Massachusetts and Michigan State. Tony had many roles throughout is working life. He was a chef, food service manager in many restaurants, hotels and country clubs, and an Instructor/Professor at Harper & Kendall College. He is preceded in death by his parents (Joseph & Rose) and brother (Joseph). He is survived by his wife Arla Faye (nee Sarley) Franchi, daughters, Alisha Potter (Charles), Adena Franchi-Conroy (James), grandchildren John, Michael, Caitlyn, Julianna, Sisters, Frances Grondin, Marie DeFalco, nieces & nephews: John, Mike, Mark, & Kathy Sarley, Rebecca, William, Ryan, DeAnna, Wolgast & John & Nick Brackett, cousins, Jack, Robert, & Kim Franchi and a host of friends and extended family. Pallbearers will be John Sarley Potter, Michael E. Potter, John Sarley, Mark Sarley, Mike Sarley, William Wolgast & Julianna Conroy.
Visitation will be Friday February 2, 2018 from 4 - 8 pm at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, DesPlaines.
