Teri was born to Robert and Mary Catherine Smith in Denver, Colorado on February 8th 1946 and grew up in Louviers Colorado. She spent much of her childhood exploring the outdoors, horseback riding, playing with friends, hunting for cottonwood mushrooms and fishing Buffalo creek where Teri spent many of her summer days with family.
Teri graduated from Douglas County High School in 1964 then began pursuing her nursing career at Mercy Hospital when she met and later married James G. Patton on September 24th 1966.
Shortly after their wedding, Jim and Teri departed from Colorado to pursue Jim’s Air Force career. They took up residence in several locations such as Homestead Florida, Oscoda Michigan, Dayton Ohio and Oklahoma City Oklahoma eventually settling back in Aurora Colorado where Teri spent her remaining years as a mother, friend, aunt, sister and a dedicated employee.
Teri served for 23 years as a Human Resource Technician at the Air Reserve Personal Center on Lowry AFB where she made many of her friends and continued pursuing her career and favorite hobbies. Spending time with friends, reading, crocheting, weekend trips to the cabin, fishing and of course cooking were among the things she enjoyed the most. Some people will likely remember Teri’s baked goods, hot dishes, shrimp & crawfish at her Mardi-Gras parties and other treats she loved to cook. But most of all Teri will be remembered for the compassion and commitment she had to those around her especially those in need or experiencing some difficulty in life.
A very defining time for Teri came during her battle with breast cancer. Through the encouragement of family and friends Teri fought this battle with strength, courage and great faith. She later celebrated this victory at Race for The Cure with her many supporters who gathered around her to walk and cheer her on in the survivor’s celebration.
Teresa is survived by her son Bobby and daughter in-law Amy of Oklahoma; son Brian and daughter in-law Donna of Colorado; son Chris of Illinois; grandchildren, Joshua of Colorado; Carter, Cale, Colin and Caitlin of Oklahoma; sister Jeannine of Michigan; brother Kent of Wyoming and sister Linda of Colorado.
We celebrate the life of Teri and the victory that she now has with our Lord and Savior in Heaven. Today she is free from the weight of this world through the grace and love of her Heavenly Father.
