Alda Mae was born November 3, 1930 to Henry and Caroline Buxman in Fort Morgan, Colorado. She died at 86 years of age on April 20, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society in Loveland, Colorado after a long illness. She graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1948 where she was active as a cheerleader and championship diver. She continued her education through directed course study including a European art study tour in 1961. She was a well-known multi-media artist specializing in oil painting and many of her paintings could be found in homes and businesses in Colorado and Nebraska. She taught private lessons to many students including her children. She was also a seamstress and great home cook and successful at most everything she put her mind to.
She was married three times and had five children. James “Buck” Wilson (Jamie, Dianna, Merry and James), Werner Maluck (Christopher), and Victor Cook.
She moved to Denver with Werner in 1968 and later opened the Old Smokehouse and Delicatessen and subsequently the Robin’s Nest Jazz Club on Lookout Mountain.
She retired from the State of Colorado where she worked in the Juvenile Probation Department in Fort Morgan and later as a Senior Secretary in Denver. She returned to Fort Morgan with Victor to care for her mother. She was a member of the Brush Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
She is survived by her children Jamie (Lance) Chilcote, Dianna (Greg Hultquist) Hergenreter, Merry (Larry) Jensen, Christopher Maluck, and her son, James, who died last year. She has six grandchildren, Derek (Lisa) Chilcote Bacco, Mark (Rachelle) Hergenreter, Mitchel (Angie) Hergenreter, Cory Anderson, Brian (Rachel) Wilson and Thomas Wilson. She also has seven great grandchildren, Michael and Anna Chilcote, Ryan and Hanna Hergenreter and Jake, Tyler and Hope (deceased) Hergenreter.
She is also survived by her two brothers, Thomas (Marge) Buxman and William (Katy) Buxman and their families. Her family and friends will miss her forever.
Alda was laid to rest next to her love, Victor Cook, at Olinger Hampden Cemetery on Saturday April 29th, 2017 in the Devotion Niches.
