Cale was born on December 12, 2007, in Lafayette and lived his short life outside of Erath. Cale received his angel wings on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 9:14 am at Tulane University Hospital in New Orleans surrounded by his family and friends after a lengthy battle with leukemia.
Cale’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that his quality of existence far exceeded the quantity of time he lived here on Earth. His beautiful blue eyes and gentle smile could melt the hearts of many, but it was his well versed stories and his knowledge about his experiences in life that he shared with others, that made him so special. He had a genuine love and deep passion for tractors, especially the “green ones,” that captivated anyone who would listen. He loved going places with his dad, riding his toy gators, being outdoors, riding in the fields on the tractors with his Binky, and he enjoyed barbecuing chicken legs and wings on his very own pit.
With Cale’s passing, he taught us all on his journey to value what is important in life…family. He taught us to live in the moment. He has left us marked by his courage, bravery, determination and undying strength even during his darkest of days. It is through his teachings about life that we were able to create so many wonderful memories. He will always remain a hero to all of us and will forever remain in our hearts.
Looking back over the last three years, Cale has indeed touched so many lives. So much is owed to so many. These words are testaments to the tremendous support he received. Countless acts of prayer, kindness and caring will endure forever. It is a constant reminder of how important even our smallest actions can be to others.
He is survived by his parents, Chad and Jenee Delcambre Langlinais; a special brother and hero, Dane Elec Langlinais; his maternal grandparents, Irvin “Jeffery” and Jeanette Suire Delcambre; paternal grandparents, Benson and Constance Vice Langlinais; his great-grandparents, Norvin and Gloridean Hebert Langlinais and Rodney and Mary Migues LeMaire; his godparents, Brant Langlinais (Michelle Duffourc) and Michelle Delcambre Lopez (Jake); his aunt Linzi Langlinais Bowman (Adam); his cousins Ford Langlinais, Colin Babineaux, Jye Lopez, and Marielle Lopez; and his special extended family, Rory and Bonnie Delcambre and family, the LeMaire family and a host of great uncles and aunts and their children.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Jeffrey “Brud” Delcambre.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brant Langlinais, Jake Lopez, Brian Touchard and Adam Bowman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rory Delcambre, Reece Blakely, Michael Blakely, Cody Trahan, Murray Landry, Chip Landry, Ryan Romero, Tilford Langlinais, Justin Langlinais and David Langlinais.
Cale’s family would like to acknowledge his hospital family at Tulane; all of his special nurses and all the wonderful staff. There will always be a special place in our heart for Dr. Julie Kanter-Washko, Dr. Tammuella Singleton, Dr. Rishikesh Chavan, and Dr. Dinesh Singh. It is because of their dedication, love, and support that Cale was able to survive some of his toughest medical challenges.
