Charles "Chuck" Barton passed away July 28, 2017 at his home in Delano, California surrounded by close family. He was born January 1, 1927 in Lelia Lake, Texas. He graduated from Gustine High School and shortly after entered the United States Army. When he was discharged from the army in 1949 he married his beloved wife Goldina also know to all her friends as "Dena", they then moved to Delano in 1951 where they started their family.
During his years in Delano, he worked at E&J Electric, as an electrician, Modern Appliances, as a TV electrician, and retired from Delano Police Department in 1987 as Sergeant. During his time on the Delano Police force he went back to school to receive his Associate's of Arts degree from Bakersfield College. He also co-sponsored Delano Boxing Club, coached little league baseball and the Babe Ruth Baseball team. He enjoyed working with the youth of Delano during his years on the force.
His hobbies included bass fishing and hunting with friends and family. He was the co-owner of California Worms. He developed a plastic Bass Fishing worm that were sold all over the world.
Chuck is preceded in death by his daughter Twyla Jean Jones and son Gary Charles Barton. He leaves behind his beloved wife Goldina of 68 years and four grandsons: Joshua Jones and spouse Kristy Jones, Anthony (Tony) and Wife Lianne Mungia, Jacob Jones and Bradley Barton. As well as six great grandchildren: Trent Mungia, Jet Jones, Jaxon Jones, Jagger Jones, Jayde Mungia, Jud Jones.
Grave side services will be held on Monday, August 7th at North Kern Delano Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. The Barton Family would like to thank Optimal Hospice Care for their wonderful help and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Optimal Hospice Care.
