Michael Marion “Mike” Burdick 77, of Oklahoma City, passed away on April 18, 2024 at home, surrounded by loved ones and his faithful pup Bella.
Michael was born on October 1, 1946 to William and Marketta Burdick at Capitol Hill Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was raised in and around Oklahoma City his whole life, attending several elementary schools and ultimately graduating as a “Bomber” from Midwest City High School in 1964. Mike lettered in wrestling during his time there.
On October 17, 1967, Michael answered the call of the military draft. He served as a soldier in the Vietnam War, in the 5th Battalion 27th Artillery Sec Bty. Upon returning home with an Honorable Discharge, Mike went to work for the Civil Service at Tinker Air Force base. He continued his career there with distinction, until his retirement in 2001.
After retirement, his favorite hobbies included watching OU Sooner football, keeping up with NASCAR racing, and fishing. Mike loved spending time on the lake in his pontoon, fishing, relaxing, having a beer, and spending time with friends and family. During warmer months, you’d often find Mike and Donna sitting outside, sitting in the driveway, enjoying the evenings while friends and neighbors came to visit.
Michael was predeceased by his mother Marketta, his father William, his sister Sherri, his son Eric and many of his faithful canine companion, who were patiently waiting to meet him at the rainbow bridge.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife Donna Gail Burdick, his daughters Michelle Fry, Kimberly Murrah, Misty Treastor, many grandchildren and many, many great-grandchildren, nieces Devra Lierman, and nephew Scott Hutto, as well as many loving friends and his sweet little Bella.
Services in remembrance and celebration of Michael's life will be held Friday, April 26, 2024 at Sunny Lane Funeral Home and Cemetery, Del City, Oklahoma. Graveside service to follow chapel services. Public visitation will be Thursday April 25, from 4pm to 8pm. There will also be a link provided to live stream the service for those who cannot attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family request considering a donation to any Vietnam Veterans/Veterans of Foreign Wars organization or your local animal shelter/rescue in Michaels name and honor.
