Jerry Valdean Eaves was born October 20, 1936 in Wewoka, OK to Lorraine and Vallie Eaves. He began school at Connerville, OK and finished high school at Tishomingo, OK in 1954. He was in the United States Army from 1958-1960 and pursued a career in professional baseball for a short time after High School, following in the footsteps of his father, Vallie, who played for the Chicago Cubs/White Sox and other teams starting in 1935. Jerry had the honor of playing on the same team with his father for one year. He had a long history of organizing and coaching Little League and American Legion baseball in the Midwest-Del City area. Jerry began his career at Tinker AFB, OK in 1963 and retired from the Air Terminal Branch in 1992. After retirement, he worked at the State Capitol as Sergeant of Arms from 1993 through 2000. He loved fishing, hunting and all sports and was an avid OU fan. His latest love was going to the casino. He was known as the guy who always drove an El Camino and made every garage sale in Oklahoma City. Jerry suffered with COPD, diabetes, heart problems and dementia for the past several years. He passed away from heart failure at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital. Jerry was a great husband, dad and grandpa. He was so loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Ballard, of Oklahoma City. Survivors include his wife, Aloma Sue McGlocklin of over 49 years; son, Jerry, Jr. and wife, Beverly, of Guthrie; daughter, Dana Turner and husband, Roger, of Del City; three grandchildren: Carrie Turner of Del City; Jason Eaves and wife, Jessica, of Guthrie and Jessica Jay of Guthrie; eight great grandchildren: Madelyn, Jack, Megan and Molly Eaves; Brayden Turner; Peyton and Caleb Jay and Riley Cupp; brothers, Bill Don Eaves of Del City and Johnny Eaves and wife Susan of Midwest City.
