The angels came and received a great man, Jasper Roper on August 28, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. Jasper was born October 27, 1922 in Saint Jo, TX to Joe Lilburn and Hanna (Earl) Roper. He served in the Navy in the forties and married his wife, Inez on August 9th, 1945. Many knew him for raising top quality cattle and horses. He never met a stranger and his door was always open to everyone, Jasper was one of the friendliest men you would ever meet, and favors were done without expecting anything in return. Jasper is survived by his children, Nancy Grissam-Hurd, Kenneth and Donnie Roper; sister, Nancy Buck; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Roper; three sisters; and three brothers. Jasper will be missed by many. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Mountain Park Cemetery, Saint Jo, TX.
