Govie was born on November 1, 1921 in Purcell, Oklahoma to Doyle Clay Coffman and Mary Helen (Babcock) Coffman. Govie loved her family very much and will be greatly missed. During World War II she worked as “Rosie the Riveter” at Tinker Field. Later she worked as an upholstery seamstress at the business she owned with her husband. Govie was a talented crafter and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and quilting. She loved canning, cooking, sewing, fishing, camping and boating. She also loved to travel with her husband in their 5th wheel and especially enjoyed the times with her family at Lake Eufaula and Cedar Lake.
She is survived by her brothers: Ben Coffman, Alfred Coffman, Charles Coffman, Bobby Coffman and Joe Coffman; Sister: Mary Coffman; Granddaughters: Catherine Stephens and her husband Troy, and Jamie Gourley; great-grandsons: Brent Snider, Jordan Blankenship, Daren Gourley, Donavan Gourley and Dustin Gourley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alfred Clinton Piatt; daughters: Leona Martin and Catherine Ann Piatt; brothers: Webster Coffman, Doyle Coffman, Rufus Coffman; and sister Ila Mae Stone.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday April 29, 2013 at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel, Del City, Oklahoma with interment at Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City, Oklahoma. For further information or to leave your condolences please visit www.eisenhourfuneral.com.
