Betty Jo Miller of Midwest City, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2022. She was born in Norman, Oklahoma, on October 22, 1928, the youngest of four children to Cecil and Della Coulter. She was an active member of the Moore High School band as a drummer and a majorette. After graduation Betty was a member of the famous Oklahoma City Kiltie band as a drummer. The popular Kiltie band traveled throughout Oklahoma and the surrounding states marching in various parades and performing in concerts. Betty worked at Tinker Air Force Base in the early 1950s where she met Bill Miller. Bill and Betty were married February 16, 1952. They had four children and moved to Midwest City in 1962.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed decorating, sewing, and gardening. Bill and Betty were an amazing couple. Having suffered hardships during the Great Depression, they wanted better opportunities in life for their children and worked hard to provide that for them. They enjoyed hosting their family for holidays, having kid’s day at Lake Eufaula, catching and preparing freshly caught sand bass for fish-fry dinners, and spending time with their kids and grandkids. Family was always important and came first in everything they did. As a team, they worked tirelessly to help their children with home remodeling projects and whatever needed to be done to improve the lives of their families. Bill and Betty enjoyed square dancing and round dancing and were members of the Oklahoma City Grand Spinners and the High Notes. Betty was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church of Midwest City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill of 55 years, and three brothers. She is survived by son Gary Miller and wife Janet of Harrah, Oklahoma; daughter Gayle Pruett and husband Bobby of Boulder, Colorado; daughter Linda Noland and husband Bill of Oklahoma City; daughter Connie Harris and husband Randy of Edmond, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., at the Sunny Lane Cemetery & Funeral Home chapel in Del City, Oklahoma.
