Funeral services for Phillip Watkins, 54, of Decatur, will be today, January 25, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Terry Gillespie officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.Mr. Watkins passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born November 24, 1959, in Decatur to Winzloe and Shirley Watkins. He worked for BASF for 31 years. He graduated with honors from West Morgan High School, class of 1978, and loved Alabama football and watching the Atlanta Braves play. He was preceded in death by his father, Winzloe Watkins and stepfather, Curtis Frost; and grandparents, Grady and Odell Watkins and Claude and Emma Johnson. Survivors include one son, Alex C. Watkins of Decatur; his mother, Shirley Frost of Decatur; brother, Scotty Watkins of Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters, Cynthia Rasnick (Michael) of Charlotte, N.C., and Jan Mears of Decatur; nephews, Jason Atchley (Ashley) and Blake Atchley (Mary); and nieces, Jessica Carter and Jill King (Ben).Pallbearers will be Chris Thomas, Jason Atchley, Tony Murphy, Ben Mears, Marty Mears and Ben King.Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Mears and Brad Jaster.
