Funeral for Elaine Stinson, 75 of Decatur will be Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at noon at Central United Methodist Church in Decatur with the Rev. Gary Formby officiating with Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 12 at the church.
Mrs. Stinson who died Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Huntsville Hospital, was born August 14, 1940 in Falkville, Al., to Austin and Watha Couch. In 1957 she graduated from High School after receiving many writing honors for speeches, poetry, and essays. She married her high school sweetheart and soon started her family of three daughters. She was very involved in her church as a Sunday School teacher, Women's Circle Leader, Stewardship Committee, Church Council, pictorial chairman and various other committees.
Her family was her pride and joy and she spent her entire life teaching and living Christian values and principles. She was a role model for friends and her family of how to live the Christian Life.
Elaine is survived by one brother, Winfred Couch from Virginia. Three daughters: Cindy Whitley (David), Tina Wofford (Curtis) and Lane Burns (Mike).
"Mummer" adored her six grandchildren, Alyson and Tyler Whitley of Atlanta, Austin and Elizabeth Wofford and Link and Tanner Burns of Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 51 years, Lowell Stinson.
Pallbearers will be son in laws and grandsons.
