Carl Edward Whitsett

Carl Edward Whitsett 79, of Decatur, AL, passed away on Saturday, Jan 14, 2023. Visitation will be on Monday, Jan 16, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will begin at 1:00 PM in the chapel with Pastor George Sawyer officiating. He will be laid to rest at Decatur City Cemetery.

Carl Whitsett is survived by his loving wife, Charmin Whitsett of 42 years; his daughter, Cindy Whitsett of Winchester TN; two stepsons, Scott Speegle and Michael Speegle both of Decatur; grandson, Jesse Speegle of Decatur; brother, Bobby Whitsett of Fayetteville, TN; sister, Juanita Shubert of Fayetteville, TN; brother, Wayne Whitsett of Hampton, VA and multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Jobe Whitsett and father, Rufus Whitsett from Taft, TN; two brothers and one older sister.

Carl was a 30 plus year employee of BP. Having been retired he later worked for John Phillips Maintenance and Wolverine. He loved fishing, golfing, his friends and family, fellow coworkers, and his dogs, Max and Ruby. His crowning delight of his life was his grandson, Jesse. Carl was a member of Calvary Assembly for 36 years. He enjoyed his home on the river and mowing grass. He received Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1986.

Much gratitude to the loving nurses at Hospice of the Valley for all their love and care.

Pallbearers will be William White, Jerrod Young, Bobby Speegle, Billy Speegle, Charles Moore and Kent Speegle.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Moss, Jerry Pearson, Ronald Wilbanks and Lee Clark.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
