Bettye Joan Jones

Bettye Joan Taylor King Jones died Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Falkville Nursing Home. Roselawn Funeral Home will be handling arrangements with visitation on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM and the service at 12:00 PM. Preston Free will be officiating, assisted by Aaron Warnick, with remarks by Justin -Paul Austin.

Bettye was born June 16, 1934 and celebrated her 89th birthday this year. She is predeceased by her parents, Grover Cleveland Taylor and Gladys Sapp Taylor; sister, Carolyn Taylor Sandlin; son, Mark Lee King and husband, Paul Ray Jones.

Bettye is survived by daughter, Angela Free (Mike); grandchildren, Preston Free (Karina), Bethany Free, Joey Cooper (Tammy), Todd King (Lindsay), Amanda King; great-grandchildren, Justin-Paul Austin, Jaylan Austin, Lucas Free, Vivian Free, Elizabeth Free, Sara Free, Rebeca Free, John-Bryant Free; nieces Josette Sandlin Osborn and Georgia Anna Sandlin Wilson; great nephews and great-nieces and great-great nephews and nieces.

Bettye was a long-time member of Decatur Christian Church. She loved to send cards to members and visitors of the church. She was a strong Christian with a kind and compassionate heart, dearly loved by family and friends.

Bettye worked for many years at Prestolite Corporation and later at Chrysler, retiring from Chrysler. After she retired, she and her close friend, Faye Bolan, loved going to yard sales and shopping in nearby small towns and communities. She and her husband, Paul, also loved spending time with grandchildren, Preston and Bethany, when they were growing up, and later with their great-grandchildren.
