Kammer, Walter Martin, SMSgt. USAF (Ret.), died November 25, 2012, at age 89. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy A.; son, Walter M., II; parents Frank and Frances, and eight siblings. He is survived by children Jane Kammer (Thomas) Habig; Mark (Brenda Wilmoth); Michael (Heide) and Dr. Nancy M. (Robert Gustason), grandsons Alec (Kim); Aaron (Karyl Masarek), and Adam Habig; great-grandchildren Karl, Frank, Alec, Peter, Molly; sister-in-law Marie Kammer; many nieces, nephews and friends, including Mary Flahive Smith, Mona Habig; and Annie Sladek of Austria. Born in Cincinnati, Walter served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII followed by a career in the US Air Force, and retirement in Dayton, Ohio. He was a Life Member of the VFW, DAV, Air Force Sergeants Association, and the BAD 2 Association. He volunteered at the WPAFB Retired Assistance Program and was a proud participant of the Honor Flight. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 29 at St. Helen Church, 5000 Burkhardt Road, Dayton, followed by interment in the Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Helen Church, or Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue.
