Robert (Bob) T. Beers, 71, of Beavercreek went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers. He was a fun and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert P. Beers and Geraldine (Gregory) Rizer. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, La Vonna Beers; his children, Amy (Dennis) Wells, Kelly (David) Grisso, Ron Hall, Brad (Kari) Beers, and Stephanie (C.J.) Frieg; his brothers, Mike (Joanne) Beers, Rick Beers, and Joe Beers; his sisters, Cindy (Gary Reeder) Longo and Karen (Jimmy) Dunn; his grandchildren, Tiffany (Aaron) Jenkins, Jordan (Chasity) Armentrout, Taylor Armentrout, Miranda Grisso, David Grisso, Emma Beers, Chloe Beers, and Brooks Frieg; and his great-grandchildren, Andrew Jenkins, Hannah Jenkins, Mackenzie Jenkins, Brayden Armentrout, Cailee Armentrout, Brycen Armentrout, and Laikyn Armentrout.
Bob retired from WPAFB as a Branch Chief in Contracting after 39 years of faithful Government service. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired with 22 years service from the US Air National Guard after serving through the Gulf War. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and was a longtime member of Mount Zion Church where he sang in the choir and Faithful Men's Chorus, served as Treasurer and a Deacon, and served in a variety of roles behind the scenes for many years. He enjoyed watching and playing sports of all kinds, and especially coaching his children's sports teams.
Family will receive friends from 9-11 AM Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Tobias Funeral Home-Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd at Grange Hall Rd. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Larry Stroble will officiate. Interment will happen at Dayton National Cemetery with full veteran honors in a small, private ceremony at a later date.
