Rick Bradberry, born in Colorado City, Texas on September 24th, 1955 to parents Claude and Irma Bradberry, unexpectedly passed away on September 2nd, 2024. Rick was the younger brother of Tony Bradberry, the boys born a year apart and often mistaken for the other. The young family moved to McComb, Mississippi where the tenacious young men spent their formative years. From Mississippi, Rick saw the world by way of the Army 82nd Airborne Division. After the Army, with a young family of his own, Rick decided to go to college. He attended the University of South Carolina while working to support his family and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. He was a Gamecock fan for the rest of his days. He became a software developer, working for companies like NCR and Reed Elsevier, inc.
In 1999, Rick married Patty Evans and they spent many happy years together. The two would spend time on their motorcycles and would travel to southern states to see family and friends. Fiercely devoted to each other, Rick and Patty loved and protected each other making sure to tell each other every day, “I love you.”
Rick enjoyed life with vigor and a mischievous twinkle in his eye. He was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and jumped into each new venture with gusto. Through the years, he learned hobbies like boating and water skiing, SCUBA Diving, skydiving, piloting, brass cash register restoration, RV camping, and leather and woodwork crafting. But the hobby he loved most was being a member of the Single Action Shooting Society. It was within this tight-knit cowboy group that he was known as Reuben Ulysses Colorado, or Ruby Colorado.
Rick was always willing to help a friend and just as eager to laugh, whether he was making a joke at his own expense or at the expense of whomever happened to be near him at the time. His laughter was infectious, and he was loyal to anyone lucky enough to call him a friend.
Preceded in death by parents Claude W. Bradberry and Irma S. Bradberry, sister-in-law Debbie Bradberry, mother-in-law Jenny Evans, and brother-in-law Tom Evans. Survived by his loyal and devoted wife Patty Evans Bradberry, brother Tony Bradberry, son Marty (Cathy) Bradberry, daughter Cathy (Robert) Bradberry, granddaughters Katie Bradberry and Ashley Bradberry, nephews Todd (Robin) Bradberry and Josh Bradberry, and former spouses Gaye Whittington and Lydia Hook.
