“Hi, Honey” were the words we always heard when calling or visiting our mother. Others also came to know this genuine greeting. Even during her last few days, our mother, Phyllis J. Parker, loved her family, friends, and neighbors. Computers, cell phones, and anything technological were not her thing. But those she knew and loved were welcomed with “Hi, Honey.” And she meant it!
Over the 93 years of our mother’s life, she stayed in touch with many of her Belmont schoolmates, Rockwell Court and Collins Avenue neighbors, church friends, and family members, near and far. She loved sending and receiving Christmas cards; the stack would grow higher and taller each year.
Mom enjoyed lunch with friends, holidays and birthdays with family, and attending church every Sunday (when able). Communion was one of her most cherished times at church and she loved the Lord’s Prayer.
At the heart of Mom’s life was home. We would take her for rides by the house where she was born, her childhood home, and the house she and our father started our family. Mom especially loved her home of 65 years where we were raised and made our friends and lifetime memories.
We say goodbye to our Mother and are comforted that she has found her forever home.
A true mother is one that is not only a mother to her kids but to everyone around her. Sheldon Lewis
A visitation for Phyllis will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Tobias Funeral Home - Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45429. A funeral service will occur Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 11:00 AM. A private burial will occur Thursday, July 11, 2024.
