Marcus Jack Truitt Jr.

Marcus Jack Truitt, Jr., age 79, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on November 6, 2021. He was born October 24, 1942 in San Antonio, TX. He had a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the University of Texas in Austin. Jack was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Major. Throughout his military career, he was stationed in various locations including Arizona, California, Missouri, Texas, Ohio, and Thailand. After his retirement from the Air Force, he ran a small business in Beavercreek, OH for a few years and enjoyed studying local history and travelling. He was a faithful member at Washington Heights Baptist Church where he was loved by close friends. He was a loving husband and cared for and supported his “adopted” grandchildren. Jack loved hiking and travelling. His smile, spirit, and caring nature will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Marcus Jack Truitt, Sr., and his mother Vera Bilek. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Frances Laverne (O’Neal) Truitt and his sister, Anita (Truitt) Rice. Services will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 at Washington Heights Baptist Church, 5650 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton, OH 45429. Visitation from 2:00 –3:00 PM will be immediately followed by the memorial service at 3:00 PM. Jack will be interred at Dayton National Cemetery at a later date.
