The son of Patricia Rochelle and Richard Hopson. Lon was born in Sherman, TX on March 16, 1965. He attended Bellevue West High School before joining the military in 1983. While serving his nearly 26 years of military service, Lon obtained an undergraduate degree in Computer Information Systems and years later a master’s degree in Acquisition and Contract Management from Bellevue University, in Bellevue, NE.
Following in the footsteps of his stepfather Freddie Rochelle, Lon enlisted in the USAF at the age of 19 and served as an active member of the Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) for nearly 26 years. In 2009, he retired at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Lon was valued service member.
A dedicated worker, a great friend and a family man.
Lon survived by his wife Dee Hopson, daughters; Savannah, and Alysha Hopson, father, mother, stepfather and joins his late sister Tana Brinke in sleep until the return.
He loved Jesus and was faithful member of Beavercreek Seventh-day Adventist Church. The following passage speaks to his memory and spirit, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give on me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” II Timothy 4: 7-8 NKJV
The Celebration for the Life of Lon Weston Hopson will be held at the Beavercreek Seventh-day Adventist Church on January 10, 2024, at 11AM (with public viewing at 10AM). A Repast will follow immediately after the Service. An Interment will take place at 9:00AM on Thursday, January 11, at the Dayton National Cemetery with a full military honor and ceremony.
