Joseph “Joe” Michael Eaglowski Jr. passed away on April 7, 2024. Joe married Barbara Ann Fisher on June 29, 1957; she proceeds him in death in May 2023. Joe is survived by three sons; Greg (Carla) of Celina, OH, Mike (Jodi) of Germantown, OH, and Joe III (Brenda) of Bellbrook, OH; six grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren; two sisters, Julie Ann Turkal and Veronica Sweterlitch, and two brothers, Tony (Judy) and Bill. In addition to his wife Barbara, Joe was proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph Michael Sr. and Julia (Samsel) Eaglowski.
Joe was born on March 19, 1936, in Massillon, Ohio. He graduated from Washington HS in Massillon in 1954, attended The University of Kansas on a football scholarship. Joe transferred to and graduated from Heidelberg College, majoring in Education. He began teaching and coaching football at Central Catholic High School in Canton in 1960. He was head football coach at Central 1962-64. Joe was an assistant football coach at University of Dayton 1965-72. He was an assistant coach with The Memphis Southmen of the World Football League 1974-75. He returned to the University of Dayton as Arena Manager 1976-96, Manager of External Contracts 1996-2000. Scouted for the Cleveland Browns in the late 1990’s. And he served as Director of Operation for the Dayton Dragons from 2000-2016. Joe was also inducted into the University of Dayton Athletic Hall of Fame.
Joe enjoyed his retirement sitting in his garage, sipping his Drambuie and talking with everyone who walked by, and enjoyed trips to Las Vegas.
A visitation for Joseph will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering, Ohio 45429, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM.
