Jane Alice Monarch was born on a farm in Trenton, Illinois on August 21, 1938. After high school she moved to St. Louis where she met her husband, Robert Monarch. They were married August 1, 1959. They eventually settled in Washington State, calling it home for over 50 years.
She and Bob traveled all over the world both for pleasure and in her job as a tour director. One of her greatest joys was taking her grandchildren on trips to Africa, China and the rain forests of Costa Rica.
She wouldn’t pull a weed if she thought it was pretty and always carried a bag on her daily walks just in case she saw something that needed to be picked up. She loved to read and write in her journal, and spend time outside working in her flower beds.
No matter the task or event, be it something in the community, her church or a dinner party with friends, she always put her whole heart into it, giving one hundred percent of her time and energy.
She was beloved by family and friends and brought joy to all those around her. She will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Monarch. She is survived by her children, Pamela (Darrel) Watsek, Daniel (Donna) Monarch, grandchildren Stephanie Watsek, Bryan (Molly) Monarch, Lauren (Mark) Witt, Derek (Erin) Monarch, Sydney (Mike) Sumpter and seven great-grandchildren.
