James Walter Thomas was born in Hagerstown, Maryland on November 27, 1927. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty years, Geraldine (Geri) Wells Thomas and two brothers Gary and Gerald. He served in the Air Force from November 1945 to January 1949 as an air traffic controller. He retired from HQ AFLC, after thirty-seven years of Civil Service on December 30, 1982 as a program manager.
He was a Past Master of Roman Lodge No. 223 in Rome, New York (1962); was a fifty year plus member of the Grand Lodge of Ohio and a member of Beavercreek Masonic Lodge No. 753. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton and a member of the Antioch Shrine Temple of Dayton. He was a lifetime member of the Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association. He was a member of The Aerie 321 Eagles and a longtime member of the Twin Base Golf Club. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Beavercreek, Ohio.
He is survived by his children Deborah of Beavercreek, James of Austin, Texas and Mark of Beavercreek, Ohio. Three grandchildren Todd Reeder, Karie Bennett and Jamie Thomas of Colorado; great-grandchildren Ava Bledsoe, Logan Bennett, and William Reeder; five sisters, Doris, Beverly, Yvonne, Shirley and Gloris.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to Beavercreek Masonic Lodge #753 in Beavercreek, Ohio.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21 from 10:00a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at Noon at Tobias Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road.
