James E. Poling, 84 of Centerville, Ohio passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022. He was born in Catawba, WV on April 4, 1938 to the late Wilbur and Margaret (Phillips) Poling. James is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Helen (Zabolotny). Proud dad of sons Lawrence and James Poling, daughters Susan (Bill) Denne and Beth (Jim) Kuchinka, sisters Patricia Miller and Linda (Dave) Arbogast, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and daddy’s boy, Toby (his dog).
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his daughter Julie Marie. James was stationed in Washington DC and a proud member of The Old Guard. He retired from General Motors in Elyria, Ohio and retired from Gem City Engineering in Dayton, OH. James was a devoted family man with a quick wit and a helping hand to those who needed it. He was passionate about researching family history, old cars and airplanes and volunteered with the restoration of a B-17 in Urbana, Ohio.
A private family viewing will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Tobias Funeral Home - Far Hills Chapel, Dayton, Ohio and a graveside service following at 2:30 pm in Worthington, Ohio at Flint Cemetery.
