James C. McGuire, Jr., 83, of Dayton, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on April 7, 1941, to the late James and Elizabeth McGuire, Sr., Jim led a life of service and dedication to both his country and his family.
A proud Air Force veteran, Jim served his country for 27 years, earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before retiring. His service to others continued throughout his life, including his work as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Ann; his son, James (Brenda); his daughter, Patricia; his grandchildren, Robert (Teah), Andrew (Olivia), and Stephen; as well as his great-grandchildren, Andy, Karmyn, and Isabella.
Jim’s academic accomplishments were as distinguished as his military career. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, a Master's degree from the University of Montana, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton. He was an active member of several organizations, including the Aero Knights and the Knights of Columbus.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on **Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM** at Tobias Funeral Home – Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45429. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on **Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM** at St. Leonard Chapel, 8100 Clyo Road, Centerville, Ohio 45458.
