It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gregory R. Hecht, a beloved friend, cherished family member, and an exceptional individual who touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. On Saturday, July 1, 2023, Greg passed away at home at the age of 56.
Greg was born on January 7, 1967, in Dayton, Ohio to Richard and Betty (Spatz) Hecht. He graduated from Alter High School in 1985. He attended Sinclair Community College and Received his associate degree in Radiological Technology in 1996. He worked for a short time at Greene Memorial Hospital before moving to Kettering Medical Network where he spent 10 years as Radiology Tech/3D Imaging Specialist until a massive brain bleed ended his career in December of 2006.
In July of 1996, he married Anne Elizabeth Hecht (Stanton). They had three sons Jacob, Charlie, and Sam. They lived in Springboro for a few years before moving to Centerville, OH to their forever home.
Greg was preceded in death by his father Richard Hecht. He is survived by his wife and their three boys, his mother Betty Hecht, as well as 5 siblings Jeff (Patti), Doug (Connie), Jonathan (Michelle), Nathan (Carolyn) and Leah Jacob (Craig) and 16 nieces and nephews.
Greg was an avid outdoorsman and was never happier than when he was in the woods hunting for deer (or Bigfoot) or at a lake with a fishing pole. He had a passion for cooking and trying new things in the kitchen. Greg found joy in watching a wide range of sports from baseball and hockey to NASCAR racing.
Yet, it was Greg's remarkable sense of humor that truly set him apart. His quick wit and ability to find laughter in any situation brought joy to those around him. Greg's jokes and lighthearted demeanor uplifted spirits and created lasting memories with family and friends. His infectious chuckle will forever echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share in his humor.
As we say our final goodbyes, remember him as a man who embraced life’s adventures, treasured his family, and reveled in the beauty of nature. May his spirit guide us to seek solace in the outdoors and cherish precious bonds with loved ones. Though he may be gone, his legacy will forever ripple through the waters and echo through the forests he dearly loved. Rest in peace dear Greg.
