Gary L Poleskey Colonel, USAF (ret), on Thursday December 1, Gary Poleskey of Beavercreek passed away at the age of 74. Born in Belleville, Illinois, he is preceded in death by his parents, J Carl and Dolores Poleskey and sister Diane Bingheim. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Barbara; son and daughter-in-law Steve and Molly; daughter and son-in-law Laura and John; grandchildren Ray, Evan, Ricky, Colin, Anna, and Harrison; brother Carl, and sisters- in-law Marilyn and Nancy.
He received a BS in marketing from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Northwestern University. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the USAF. He served 25 years in contracting and acquisition, retiring as a Colonel. He then joined Dayton Aerospace Inc. serving on the Board and as Vice President. He was active in the National Contract Management Association, serving as National President.
After his second retirement, he joined the University of Dayton New Horizons Band, playing the saxophone, serving as President and Endowment Fund chair, and playing in several small groups. He was a strong supporter of Fighting Illini athletics, a life-long St. Louis Cardinal fan, cheered on the Wright State basketball team, and was an avid golfer. He and his wife Barbara traveled extensively, traveling to 38 countries. He was active at Peace Lutheran Church, being Endowment Fund chair and singing in the choir.
Visitation will be at Peace Lutheran Church in Beavercreek on Tuesday, December 27 at 10:00 am, the Memorial service at 11:00 am, followed by military honors at the Dayton National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or the Hartley University of Dayton New Horizons Music Endowment.
