McDaniel, Frederick P. "Fred", age 73, of Dayton passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Irma (Soehner) McDaniel, Sr., two brothers, Bobby, Jr. and Eugene and his grandson, Christopher Byrd. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Corina "Jean", 2 daughters, Diana and husband, Jeff Byrd, Paula Lamb; 2 grandchildren, Harmony Byrd, Caleb Lamb and a great granddaughter, Ava. He is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends. Fred was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from General Motors after 33 years of dedicated service. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Fred was an avid mall walker and enjoyed coaching soccer, including St. Helen's Girls and Boys, Rapids Select and several City of Dayton teams. He was a Carroll High School Band Booster and enjoyed Bingo at Carroll High School. Fred was a loving and committed family man who always wore a smile. He enjoyed sitting down to a good meal and was always enthusiastic to share a joke or story with his family and friends; his quick wit and superb sense of humor have made many cheerful memories. Mass of Christian will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015, from St. Helen Catholic Church, 5100 Burkhardt Road, with Father David Brinkmoeller officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road on Friday, May 29, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Carroll High School Band Boosters, 4524 Linden Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45432.
