WILLIAMS, Emma Jean, age 88 of Dayton, passed away on Friday, February 25th, 2022 at Hospice of Dayton. She passed away in the loving arms of her son Richard Williams, while being held. She transition away peacefully surrounded by loving family, and friends. Emma was born on August 7th, 1933 in Winston Salem, North Carolina to the late Ernest and Mamie Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, W.R. Williams Jr., her sister Geraldine Moss, brothers Paul Griffin and Benjamin Griffin. She is survived by her children, Richard Williams, Larry Dudley, Archie Cardwell Jr., Tym Willis, Gail Roberts, and Yvette Shepherd; many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a special loved one Kayla Williams. Emma was a graduate of Winston-Salem State University, received her masters from Spelman College and attended classes at the University of Dayton. She taught school for 30 years at Radcliff Elementary School. She was a member of the sorority Delta Sigma Theta. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 8th, 2022, with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Father Benjamin Speare-Hardy II officiating. Burial Dayton National Cemetery.
