Deis, Donald Eugene (Gene), age 87, of Beavercreek, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2014, at Miami Valley Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mildred (Reinhardt) Deis, his sons, John C. in 2008 and Jeffrey M. in 2007, a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Earl Dunkley, 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Betty Deis, Kenneth and Odessa Deis, an aunt and uncle, Esther and Ish Haller and a daughter-in-law, Cheri Deis. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Arlene (Hoyer) Deis; two daughters-in-law, Dawn Deis and Melissa Rabold; a sister and brother-in-law, Dottie and Bill Ward; a brother, Bernard Deis; six grandchildren, Zachary, Brandon, Jacob and wife, Chyanne, Cecilia, Staci and Destiny. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephew, other relatives and many St. Helen friends. Gene was born in Dayton, OH on December 29, 1926 and raised at the St. Joseph Orphanage. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church for 49 years and a member of The Knights of Columbus, Council 3730. A veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict, he had the honor of participating with The Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. Gene worked for many years at N.C.R. and retired from General Motors. Prayers will be said at 9:15 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014, at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. from St. Helen Catholic Church with Father David Brinkmoeller as the celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2014. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Helen Parish or the Precious Blood Fathers.
