Dale started his career with General Motors earlier than most, by deciding to attend Patterson Co-op High School here in Dayton, Ohio in 1953. He was fortunate enough to begin his co-op program by getting a job with Delco Moraine Division of General Motors which lasted over 40 wonderful years. As a co-op, Dale had numerous jobs, primarily in manufacturing and tooling, until he graduated from Patterson Co-Op. After graduation he was offered a full time job in the Tooling Department in manufacturing, where he eventually became the General Superintendent of that very department. Dale's organization and people skills eventually became apparent enough to be promoted to staff position reporting directly to the General Manager of Delco Moraine. During this time as staff member he was picked to become the General Manager of a new Delco Moraine Plant in Fredericksburg, VA, to produce a brand new Transmission product for the automotive industry. Dale successfully managed this new endeavor for several years, then returned to Dayton to finish his career with General Motors. His new position was Director of Strategic Planning up until his retirement in 1992. Dale's retirement was short lived when contacted by the leading Brake Lining Friction Company (BBA Friction) in Europe to help them open a new manufacturing facility in Dublin, Virginia. Dale became the General Manager of a multi-million dollar company, which provided product for major car companies in North America. Dale finally retired for good in 1997. In additon to being an incredible husband, father, and grandfather, Dale enjoyed time spent on the golf course with Donna and many friends at their home course NCR Country Club for 20 years. He was preceded in death by parents Paul and Ella Lewis, his brother Ken and sister June. The family would like to thank all the wonderful medical professionals who lovingly cared for Dale over the years.
