Lt. Col. (USAF Ret) David Fenton Neely (84) went to be with the Lord on Nov. 29th, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, Capt. Guy Morton Neely Sr. (USN), and beloved Betty Neely, Admiral Robert L. Dennison, Mildred Dennison, son David F. Neely, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Peggy R. Neely, sons, Michael M. Neely (spouse Leatha), Matthew M. Neely and daughter Monique M. Hobbs (spouse Keith), grandchildren Lawrence, Jacob, Ginna, Bradley, Jaqueline. His brother, Lt. Cmdr. Guy Morton Neely Jr. (USN Ret), wife Adeline, brother Dr. Stephen Neely, wife Betty Lou, his beloved brother-in-law Maj. General George Edwards, sister-in-law Jho, sister-in-law Carol Vojvodich and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special mention to Johanna Beck, Robert Dean, Jr. and wife Michelle, George Allen Edwards, Jr., Carole Covault, Shirley Andrews, Stan Temple, Vickie Day, Clyde and Maggie Hobbs, the Wheelers, Susan Cox, Gloria Ford, Derle Lowder, Larry Kennon Sr., David Novotny, the Moore’s, our neighbors, Bob and Kathy Schaffer, Pastor Paul Deaton and his wife Alice, Celeste Lapp, Carolyn Craft, Dr. Morris Brown and staff, Clemia Bond, Gem City Liaison, Krissy, Gem City RN, Dr. James Murphy (MVH) and the entire staff at MVH.
Dave graduated 3rd in his 1951 class at United States Naval Academy with a B.S in Mechanical Engineering. He also received a M.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). He was an Air Force Fighter Pilot with combat missions in the Korean War, and after a twenty year career, further served this nation another twenty years as a Program Manager for the F-16. As professionally accomplished as he was, anyone who ever met Dave knew that he felt his biggest accomplishment in life was his beloved family whom he loved so unconditionally. Our family was truly blessed to have had him as our Family Patriarch.
Four words can sum him up. BEAUTIFUL, UNIQUE, LOVE, OUTSTANDING.
Memorial of his life will be celebrated at Tobias Funeral Home-Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd at Grange Hall Rd. Visitation will be from 1pm to 3pm on Sat Dec 7th, 2013 with a Military service following at 3 PM. The family has requested NO FLOWERS. Memorials can be made to the “Set Me Free Ministry” located on 3rd Street, Dayton, OH.
