ZIMMERMAN, Charles J. age 91, passed away at Hospice of Dayton on January 21, 2021. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 13, 1929 to parents John and Jenny (Sengl) Zimmerman who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death are in-laws. Ethel and George Roller; brother-in-law, Bill Bristol; sister-in-laws Bonnie Pagel and Dottie Rhoades.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Vivian (Moon) Zimmerman; daughter, Sue (Gary) Allen; grandchildren, Jason (Danielle) Allen, Stefanie (Al) Boone; great-grandchildren Brayden and Madison; sister, Darlene Bristol; nieces and nephews, Mike Bristol, Mark (Lynn) Bristol, Keri (Doug) Hall, Doug (Susan) Sherer, Geoff (Jeana) Sherer, Diana (Greg) Wilson; and several great nieces and nephews; special friends, Debbie (Bruce) Baker, the Cosenza and Barnett families and countless other family and friends.
Charles was a Staff Sargent in the Army; fought in the Korean War, worked at Miami Valley Hospital for 40 years, and a member of the Milton Athletic Club.
Charles enjoyed watching sports especially the University of Dayton Flyers Basketball and Football games. He enjoyed traveling, boating and fishing especially in Canada in early years with family and friends and the many yearly fishing trips with his friend Joe. He enjoyed music and dancing; Vivian and Charles could light up a room with a Jitter-Bug or Polka. He played Golf and enjoyed the trips with his Milton Club friends.
Charles loved animals and was always hoping Brandy would be there to greet him. He loved his family and friends. He enjoyed living a full life, having fun and making people laugh. Some of his final words were “We had good times” and most importantly to all he loved and to all who loved him he said “Be Happy.”
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the Tobias Funeral Home, 3970 Dayton Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432 from 9:00-10:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will be held the same day at 10:30 AM at St. Luke Catholic Church, 1440 N. Fairfield Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432 with Father Terry Schneider officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 1625 Calvary Ave. Dayton, Ohio 45409. All events will require use of Face Masks and Social Distancing.
In Lieu of Flowers, contributions in Charles’s name may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45420.

On the right side of the “Videos” block, click on “See All.” You will see the one that is “LIVE” and also all of the Masses that St. Luke has streamed recently will be archived there, and you can click on any one of the Masses that you would like to stream using your computer (or phone).
