BRYAN, Charles A. “Chuck” age 87 of Otterbein Retirement Community in Lebanon, Ohio, passed away Thursday January 5, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Suzanne (Dover), 3 daughters, Carolyn (Keith) Gorby of Cincinnati, Ohio and 4 grandchildren, Jennifer (William) Cole, Sarah (Nyk) Belcher, Bryan (Michelle) and Daniel (Lily); Judy Boyer of Laura, Ohio and 8 grandchildren, Ben, Nate (Mandi), Joseph (Brooke), Elizabeth (Lacoy) Allen, Esther, James, Naomi and Joshua; Linda (John) Gerber of Troy, Ohio and 3 grandchildren, Amy (Stefan) Deeter, Kenneth Smith, and Katherine (James) McConnell; son, Kenneth (Anna) Bryan and 3 grandchildren, Leah (Jim) Koerner, Kelly Sue, and Rebecca of Cincinnati, Ohio; 4 great-grandchildren, Kingston and Kimber Deeter, Rachael and Hannah Cole; brother, Ross Bryan of Findlay, Ohio; sister, Mary Straszheim of New Paris, Ohio; sister-in-law, Enid Dover of Beavercreek, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross Bryan, Sr. and Margaret (Zartman) Bryan; stepmother, Emma Bryan; brother, William Bryan; brother-in-law, Gene Straszheim; sister-in-law, Louise Bryan; son-in-law, Jeff Boyer; brother-in-law, David Dover; and great-granddaughter, Zara Lee Belcher. Chuck was born on December 1, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio. He attended E.J. Brown elementary school and graduated from West Carrolton H.S. in 1947. Chuck worked at Frigidaire for 5 years, and then he served in the Navy for 34 months during the Korean War and worked at G.E. Major Appliance Product Service for 34 years. He retired on January 1, 1990 and moved back to Kettering, Ohio. He and Sue lived in Mt. Healthy (Cin.), and Kansas City before moving back to Ohio. They moved to Otterbein on August 1, 2013. Chuck was an active member of the United Methodist Church. He truly felt that it was a real blessing to be a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and in-law to his family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11 AM at Tobias Funeral Home Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave., Dayton, with Pastor John Whitaker officiating. Family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of service.
