SMITH, Brian Douglas, Brian passed away unexpectedly on January 24, 2013 at Grandview Hospital. He was preceded in death by parents, Herschel Dale Smith and Catherine Mary (Jackson) Smith. He is survived by sisters, Valerie Walker (Tim), Sharon Smith, nieces, Erica Smith and Sydney Smith, nephew Michael Walker, grand-nieces, Ella and Emerson Middleton, his beloved dog Otto and special friends, Tim and Sue who looked out for Brian for many years. Brian was born on August 25, 1954 at St. Elizabeth Hospital and always knew he would become an architect. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1977 from the School of Architecture, College of Engineering. Brian was an intellectual, had an infectious laugh, loved photography, books, architecture, classical music, and appreciating and creating art. Brian was the lead architect for the Clubhouse at Yankee Trace in Centerville as well as many other local projects. He became ill over the past few years; however remained hopeful his situation was improving. Brian was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and treasured not only its pastor Sherry Gale, PhD and congregation both the history, art and extraordinary architecture. A gathering to remember Brian will take place February 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church and anyone who knew Brian is welcome to attend.
