Faye I. Edwards, 91, a 52 year resident of Crofton, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Faye was born in Allentown, PA in 1933, the only child of Samuel and Martha “Peg” (Stefany) McQuilken. She grew up in Hokendauqua, PA. While attending Whitehall High School (1951) she met the love of her life, Richard A. Edwards, they married in 1955, had two daughters and together celebrated 61 years of marriage. After attending East Stroudsburg University (1955) she began her teaching career in PA.
In 1965, Faye left Pennsylvania and moved to the Midwest (Iowa and Missouri) for the next seven years. Upon moving to Crofton, in 1972, she was eager to return to teaching. Creative Garden Nursery School became her home for the next 25 years. She retired from Creative Garden in 1997.
Her retirement was spent with family, especially her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard. Faye is survived by her daughters, Carol (Mark) Collins and Amy Helpa, grandchildren Olivia Collins, Zachary Collins, Nolan Helpa, and Caffrey Helpa, in addition to many extended family members. The family would like to recognize Spring Arbor of Crofton, Faye’s home for the last 3 years, and the care and compassion of Heartland Hospice. Please join us for a celebration of her life on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 N.W. Crain Highway (Rt. 3S), Bowie, MD.
