Passed away at Odessa Memorial Long Term Care on 10/28/24. Judy was born to P.J. and Nettie [Kallenberger] on 02/22/1937 in Odessa, WA.
Lois and Loren where given the nicknames of Punch and Judy from a puppet show from early 1930’s.
Judy married Jerry Starkel in Sept. of 1956. They lived in Marlin and the surrounding area their whole marriage. They were blessed with 2 children, Doug and Susan.
Judy was always busy. She had many jobs in her life, she worked at the Marlin store, the U and I Sugar Beet Plant, Paul's Market, Odessa Memorial Hospital [kitchen] and the Wilson Creek School cafeteria.
When she wasn't working, she was in her yard, it was always beautiful. On a Saturday night if there was a dance you could find her and Jerry on the dance floor, boy could they dance. And she was always dressed to the nines.
She loved watching the Mariners and Gonzaga basketball. When she retired from Wilson Creek school they gave her tickets to a game at the kennel, she was thrilled.
Judy was an athlete in high school, she played tennis and basketball. She also loved watching Doug and Susan playing basketball and all the sports her grandkids and great grandkids played.
While watching Doug, they had to stop the game 3 times because she got so excited she dropped her score sheet and pen on the court. Then there was the time she didn't like the call the ref called on Doug and she expressed her feeling to the ref and was swiftly given a technical foul.
Judy was preceded in death by her spouse Jerry, parents P.J. and Nettie, brother Howard, Bud, Cecil, Dale, Punch, and Keith, sisters Lenora, Gladys, Iva, and Donna.
