Virginia “Ginnie” Dixon, 92, of Davenport, was called home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2024. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Clarence Cemetery. Ginnie was born on a farm home off Rural Route 2 in Clarence, Iowa to Frederick and Louella Mae (Smith) Luikart on September 8, 1931. Ginnie grew up in rural Clarence, graduating from Clarence High School before moving to the Davenport area in 1963. Ginnie was united in marriage to Carl Dixon on November 19, 1977 at St. John’s United Methodist of Davenport, Iowa. Carl preceded her in death on September 2, 2017.
Ginnie had an active life spending time with family and friends. Travelling with her husband in their RV and caring for their cats. She enjoyed playing the piano and always thinking of others. Ginnie was a member of Harmony Hills Baptist Church and Quad Cities Singletons.
Ginnie is survived by her Niece Sharon Rice of Silvis, IL; Nephews H. Mike (Marlo) Laing of Riverside, IA and Mark Laing of Stanwood, IA; 4 Great Nieces Karyn (Mike) Fulton, Teresa (Scott) White, Tracy VandenBerg, and Tonia Laing; 3 Great-Great Grand Nephews and Niece: Kyle White, Kyra White, and Ryan VandenBerg; Step Daughter Tammie Denton; Step Granddaughter Katie Dixon; and Step Great Granddaughter Emma.
Ginnie is preceded in death by her parents, Husband Carl Dixon, Sister Kathleen Laing, Step Great Granddaughter Gwin and Nephew Jim Rice.
