Violet M. Olds, 90, passed away at Bickford Cottage on November 22, 2022. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will take place at Cunnick-Collins Celebration of Life Center 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2022. Visitation will take place an hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Private family inurnment will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Croix Hospice. Violet Marie (Berger) Olds was born on February 16, 1932 in a small church in South Amana, Iowa. She was born to Arnold and Clara Berger and was raised on the farm. After graduating from high school, Violet married Charles Olds in Davenport, Iowa on March 17, 1951. Together there in Davenport, Violet and Charles raised three daughters. Violet worked various jobs throughout her life, eventually retiring in 1997.
In her spare time, Violet enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She also delighted in having black jelly beans and the occasional orange slice candy. Violet will be dearly missed.
Survivors include daughters; Karen Olds of Bettendorf and Kathryn “Kat” Smith, of Davenport, three grandchildren; Kenneth (Nicole) Mitchell, Terrah Smith, Brandon Smith, and great granddaughter; Anna Mitchell.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Charles Olds, a daughter; Charlotte Mitchell, a granddaughter; Jessica Hernandez, a great-grandson; David Charles Hernandez, a sister; Carolyn Craw, and her brothers; Max, Richard, and George Beger.
