Vicki Lee Farber, 74, of Bettendorf, IA, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, at the mortuary. She will be laid to rest in Oakdale Memorial Garden. Memorials may be made in her honor to the Heritage Church.
Vicki was born on September 20, 1949 in Geneseo, IL to Dean and Lila Echelberger (Lewis) from Cambridge, IL where she graduated from high school in 1967. Vicki attended Sterling, cosmetology school in Moline Illinois and shortly after graduating she worked for LaRita‘s beauty salon from 1967 to 1980. She also worked at Hair unlimited in Moline, Illinois from 1981 to 1984.
On October 13, 1979 Vicki married the love of her life William Farber at the Moline Gospel Temple in Moline Illinois. A few years later her and William started a family. They have a Son named Jonathan and daughter named Joy. Once Vicki gave birth to Jonathan they decided to have her stay home full time with both kids until they graduated from high school.
When she went back to work, she worked for The Fountains senior living in Bettendorf, Iowa as an activities aid for assistant living and memory unit for 13 years until she retired in April 2021. She always showed love & compassion to the residents. She brought a lot of smiles & added much fun to their lives!
Vicki enjoyed taking motorcycle rides with her husband as a passenger here in the Midwest,the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee,North Carolina and Colorado. Vicki also enjoyed riding bicycle’s, visiting lighthouse’s and most of all spending time with her two grandchildren,family and friends.
Vicki was diagnosed with glioblastoma in March of 2022 and fought to the end. She was a strong believer in Christ. She was such a beautiful person inside and out and a loving wife, mother grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed dearly by everyone.
In addition to her husband William, she is survived by her son Jonathan Farber, her daughter Joy (Jasko) Avdic, grandchildren Amir Avdic, Adin Avdic, brother Mike (Theresa) Echelberger, sister Diane (Jim) Gilbraith and sister in law Claudia Farber. Vicki is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Dean and Lila Echelberger.
The Farber family would like to give thanks to the hospice workers of Genesis. Their guidance and compassion made it much easier for the caregivers.
