Shirley Ann Peterson

She was born on June 13, 1935 in Adair County, MO, the daughter of Owen and Dorothy (Lee) Houston. On June 1, 1957, in Kirksville, MO, she married Allen L. Peterson, who preceded her in death on November 4, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother, and her son, Allen L. Peterson II on August 5, 2020.

She is survived by daughters, Carol (Grant) Martin of Liberty Twp., OH, and Janet (Rick) Egan of Alexis, IL; daughter-in-law, Victoria Peterson of Destin, FL; along with seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Ms. Peterson graduated from North East Missouri Teachers College in Kirksville, MO, in 1958. She taught in the Davenport Schools for 30 plus years. After retirement, she and Allen traveled with their camper to winter in Mission, TX, with friends. They loved playing cards and were active in Christ’s Family Church. Shirley was supportive in her grandchildren’s education and activities. Her great grandchildren were always a joy when they visited her.

A celebration of life will be held at Christ Family Church in Davenport, at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2020. Officiating will be Pastor Brian Akker. Memorials in her honor may be made to Christ’s Family Church, Davenport, IA, or Family Resources Braking Traffic Program, Davenport, IA.
