Sandy Jo Nelson, 61, of Davenport, passed away unexpectedly at her home Tuesday, May 24, 2011. There will be no services. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 4-7 pm at the Runge Mortuary. Cremation rites were accorded. Online condolences may be left at www.therungemortuary.com.

Sandy was born on July 15, 1949, in Davenport, the daughter of Roy A. and Phyllis (Moore) Nelson.
She retired from the United States Military Materials Command where she worked for over 30 years. Sandy was a hard worker who would help anyone. She was very handy and had a keen eye for fixing things. She enjoyed gardening and decorating. Her bird feeders were always full and she knew many different types of birds. Sandy loved to shop and in the process made many friends.
Those left to honor her memory are her mother, Phyllis Nelson and various relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Nelson, and brother, Danny.
