Ron was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War and a specialist E4 in the Army. Following his service, he settled back in Davenport, IA, as a welder for Sears Manufacturing for 32 years prior to his retirement.
In his free-time he loved to watch the Kansas City Chiefs, his NASCAR races, and the St. Louis Cardinals on TV. When not playing his slots or on one of his drives, he enjoyed fishing, hiking, and camping with his family that he loved so much.
His most favorite job of all was being a loving father to his children, Dawn Picolet of Davenport, IA (partner, Mark Sloan) and Wayne Howard of Vancouver, WA (partner, Virginia Tinthakit). He was an adoring grandfather to his grandchildren, Randy Schutters II of Reynolds, IL (partner, Rebecca Vick), Richard Mull of Davenport, IA (partner, Carter Martin), and Ryan Mull of Davenport, IA. He was also a caring great grandfather to his three great granddaughters as well. Lastly, he was the brother of Les Howard, Eileen Marxen, Bugs Howard, Charlotte Heizer, and James Howard.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Vivian and Leile Howard; his beloved uncle, “Unkie”; his dearest sister, Eileen Marxen and her husband, Denny Marxen; his niece, Theresa Czarnetzki; his brother-in-law, Gary Heizer; and sister-in-law, Ginger Howard.
