Oscar E. “Scotty” Scott, Sr., 82, of Davenport, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Genesis East. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Progressive Baptist Church in Davenport. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Tuesday at the Runge Mortuary and from 11 am-12 Noon on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. On March 11, 1949 he married Mabel Douglas in Rock Island, Illinois. She preceded him in death on December 21, 1990.
Mr. Scott served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was employed by the Rock Island Arsenal for over forty years and was a member of the Progressive Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and usher in earlier years. He enjoyed the Trucker Jamboree and semis.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law: Oscar E. (Jr.) and Sharon Scott and Ernest L. Scott, four grandchildren: Julius, Alfonso, Michael, and Nicole; several great grandchildren; six sisters: Odessa, Ruby, Florence, Mary Anne, Olamae, and Evelyn; and special friend Mary Frances Troy.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert and Walter.
