Mary Margaret Mahoney

Mary Margaret Mahoney, 98, of Walcott, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Courtyard Estates of Walcott. Per her request cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be at the Allens Grove Cemetery on Wednesday, June 22. 2022 at 2pm; those who wish to attend please meet at Weerts Funeral Home at 1:15pm.

Mary was born on May 4, 1924 to Henry and Mary Goeke in Kirksville, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Virgle Mahoney on September 14, 1944; he preceded her in death. Mary loved to keep busy with quilting, embroidery, and various crochet projects. She also enjoyed researching family genealogy and going fishing. Mary and Virgle were members of the Good Sam’s Camping Club and the Donahue American Legion.

Those left to honor Mary’s memory are her children Barbara (Ralph) Mahoney-Barker, Susan (Ronald) Jensen, Joan (Richard) Wigger, and William Mahoney; special friends Mary Strohbein and Joann Garlough; grandchildren Ralph, Cora, Adam, Meghan, Eric, and Christine; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and six siblings.
